I love the low country. Specifically the low county between Savannah, GA & Tybee Island, GA. It was my commute for a little over a year. 2 times a day, 5 days a week I got to enjoy the views from Highway 80 and just cruise. On a much smaller scale San Diego has a few patches of low country. San Elijo Lagoon is North County San Diego’s own little slice of the low country.

Sony is running a pretty cool promotion in which they are raising money for charity by simply (but very generously) giving $1 for every re-pin from their “Pin It To Give It” board on Pinterest.

A collection of images taken while traveling last year to Tahiiti. The images were captured using the iOS App 360 Panorama. One day I would love to learn how to push this concept and develop high quality image, like those created by photographer Catherine Nelson.
Banana bread is awesome. French toast is awesome. So… why not combine the two. This by far is one of my favorite breakfasts period.
- Grab some banana bread (and wife that can bake)
- Whip up some french toast mixture (egg, milk, cinamon, etc )
- Soak your banana bread in the mixture
- Throw it on to a buttered hot pan
- Cook both side ’til golden
Pairs with milk, OJ & syrup (heat it up with butter melted in).
California winters aren’t long, hard or cold… but they are occasionally chilly (especially in the morning). The above should keep you comfortable down to the upper 40′s.

Based on a recipe from Sam the Cooking Guy this is one of my favorite recipes and it’s dead simple.
- Grab a piece of nice sushi-grade ahi from your local market
- Grind up Captain Crunch to a fine powder
- Lightly cover the ahi in oil (I prefer light olive oil)
- Badder the ahi with the Captain Crunch powder
- Sear to your liking
- Serve with wasabi & soy sauce
Pairs well with wasabi mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus and a nice IPA.
